PALS Programme fosters academic collaboration between UK and Palestinian scholars.
Established as a travel fellowship in 2023, PALS has since evolved into a broader academic programme dedicated to creating in-person spaces for promoting knowledge exchange, research, and meaningful partnerships with Palestinian higher education.

FPU’s Palestine-UK Academic Links Seminar (PALS) programme continues to evolve in response to the deepening crisis facing Palestinian higher education. Following the adaptation of PALS 2024 to a UK-based model due to escalating violence and travel restrictions, this year’s programme built on that foundation by deepening engagement and focusing on practical collaboration to support Gaza’s universities.

London-based programme
With travel to Palestine impossible, PALS 2024 was held in London. The programme brought together UK-based academics and Palestinian university representatives to discuss the current state of Palestinian higher education, share research, and develop collaborative initiatives. Discussions centered on emergency academic support, research partnerships, and advocacy strategies to sustain Palestinian universities.
PALS 2023
Travel Fellowship to Palestine
The first PALS seminar in 2023 enabled UK academics to visit Palestinian universities, engage with faculty and students, and explore opportunities for academic partnerships. Hosted in collaboration with Palestinian higher education institutions, the programme facilitated in-depth discussions on the structural barriers to education under occupation.
